Studies:
Ioannis Kefalogiannis studied Law at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and earned a Master’s Degree in Politics and International Relations at Columbia University in New York (CUHA). He received a scholarship from the John Nicholas Foundation that is awarded to the top Greek student at Columbia University.
After completing his postgraduate studies, he went on to study at Harvard Law School receiving a specialization in negotiation techniques for lawyers.
He started off his professional career at the United Nations Security Council - UNSC and continued as an attorney specializing in the areas of Criminal and Civil Law.

Parliamentary Activities

Ioannis Kefalogiannis is the Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic.
In 2012, at the age of 30, he was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament with the party of New Democracy and became the youngest member of the Hellenic Parliament during the period of 2012-2015. He was elected to the honorary position of Secretary of the Hellenic Parliament, a position he held until 2019.
He was re-elected for a second and third time in the January 2015 and September 2015 elections respectively. In 2016, he became the youngest Member of the Hellenic Parliament in the history of the New Democracy party to become its Parliamentary Representative.
In July 2019 he was re-elected and appointed Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport in the Cabinet of Kyriakos Mitsotakis until August 2021.
In the elections of 2023, he was re-elected for the fifth time as Member of the Hellenic Parliament. He is currently serving as the Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic.
He has participated as a member in the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, the Committee on European Affairs, and the Committee on Armament Programs and Contracts. Additionally, he has served as Vice President of the Committee on Regions and the Special Committee on the content and procedures for concluding the transatlantic trade agreements of the Hellenic Parliament.
Finally, he has been appointed responsible for the sector of Defence and the sector of International Affairs of the New Democracy party.

Political/Social Activities

During his tenure as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, he prepared a series of legislative regulations such as: the subjects of theoretical examinations and tests of qualifications and behavior of candidate drivers and drivers, the promotion of electromobility, the interoperability of the railway system, the establishment and operation of airports on water surfaces, sustainable urban mobility plans and micromobility, the revision of the road traffic code, the digitalization of procedures of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the granting of a temporary driving license and the national strategy for road safety.
During his studies at Columbia University, he was a member of the Board of the University’s Greek Community.
Since 1994 he has been a member of UNICEF and in 2004 he was a volunteer at the Athens Olympic Games for the sport of water polo, in which he excelled as a non-professional athlete from 1996 to 2009.
He is also an active member of the Basketball Players Association of the Hellenic Parliament which has a strong record of charitable work.
